Obituary for Ross "Bob" Myers
Ross B. “Bob” Myers, Jr., 91, 1075 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA died Saturday, January 12, 2017 at SpiriTrust, Gettysburg, PA.
He was born September 16, 1925 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Ross R. and Maude Oyler Myers, Sr. Bob was the husband of the late Mary Ellen Stevens Myers who he married on June 13, 1953 at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. Mary Ellen passed on May 8, 2014, she was the love of his life for almost 61 years.
A lifelong member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. Bob was a 39 year veteran of Met Ed and a life member of the Elks Club, the Gettysburg American Legion, the 40 et 8 and a number of other veterans groups.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy, honorably discharged on January 20, 1946.
Bob was happiest when helping others and he was a wonderful neighbor and friend who will be greatly missed. He especially enjoyed reading, football and visiting with relatives and loved ones. He had been an avid hunter and was a partner in a private hunting camp for many years.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jeanie Steinour and her husband Rodney, his late sister’s daughter, of Cross Keys Brethren Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Harry G. Winsheimer officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 Pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, 208 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Womleysburg PA 17043.
