Obituary for Ruth H. Crist
Ruth Hartzell Crist, 83 of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at her home.
She was born February 26, 1934 in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late Crosby and Rhoda Thompson Hartzell. Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Guy Crist.
Ruth was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir, participated in many activities and served on several committees. She attended Gettysburg High School. Ruth was employed by the former Adams County Earned Income Tax Collection Agency as an administrative assistant for many years. She enjoyed reading, painting and working on her daily puzzles. Ruth was very active with her family watching her children and grandchildren in the various sports, clubs and organizations they participated in growing up.
In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by five children; Lois Holland and her husband Vance of Odessa, FL, Kay Price and her husband John of East Berlin, PA, Jean Blaine and her husband Conner of Erie, PA, Ross Crist and his wife Susan of East Berlin, PA, Beth Becker and her husband Brad of Littlestown, PA, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, five brothers and sisters; Joan Bryce of Gettysburg, PA, Bing Hartzell of Gettysburg, PA, Jean Cardina of Leola, PA, Jay Hartzell of Orrtanna, PA, David Hartzell of Gettysburg, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Allwein and Rev. Andrew Geib, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
