Obituary for Shirley A. Rudisill
Shirley A. (Plank) Rudisill, 83, Gardners Station Road, Gardners, PA died Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 8, 1935 in Gettysburg, PA the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Dick) Plank. Shirley’s love of her life & husband of 52 years Donald G. Rudisill had passed in 2005. She has lived in Adams County all of her life.
Mrs. Rudisill was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Goodyear, PA. She was previously employed at Dal-Tile in Gettysburg, PA and Musselmens in Gardners, PA. Shirley was an avid reader and loved to play cards with family and friends. She was known as the “family historian” for her keen ability to remember important dates.
Shirley is survived by a son, Gregory Rudisill and his wife, Beverly of Warrenton, VA, two daughters; Tina Toney of Bonneauville, PA, Penny Ritter of Gettysburg, PA, three grandchildren; Heather Rudisill of NC; Gabrielle Rudisill of MN; Bryon Rudisill of CA; a brother, Jim Plank of Gettysburg, PA, and a sister, Anne Shaffer of Abbottstown, PA. She was predeceased by nine siblings, Charles (Roy), Dale, Richard, Art, Earl and Ira Plank, Betty Adelsberger, Hester Shaffer and Charlotte Shaffer. She helped to raise her niece and nephews; Melissa, Bobby and Perry Plank and also stepped in to provide grandmotherly love to Nicole and Nathan Bowmaster and Charlotte (Charlie) Frueham. Shirley gave unconditional love to all of her nieces, nephews and their children.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Clark officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
