Thelia Rae Wagner, 91, of Cashtown, PA passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living Center of Fayetteville, PA surrounded by her family.
Thelia was born on July 30, 1932, in Media PA, the daughter of George “Raymond” and Eleanor Yarnall. Her husband and best friend of 48 years, George“Jiggs” L Wagner, died in 2003.
Thelia was a graduate of West Chester State Teachers College. She taught for a number of years within the Gettysburg School District, mostly as a third grade teacher at Franklin Township Elementary. She was an avid crafter and artist. For over 25 years, Thelia was a member of the Wobbly Bobbins Quilting Club, the Stitch in Peace Quilting Club and the Cashtown Homemakers. Her family and friends often benefited from her endeavors. Thelia enjoyed traveling and spent many days camping with her family throughout the U.S. and Canada, often in pursuit of lighthouses. Particular favorite lighthouses being Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia and those on the coast of Maine. Another favorite hobby was gardening as
evidenced by the beautiful flower beds surrounding her home.
Thelia is survived by her step brother Richard Beebe and wife Kate. She was the mother of eight children including a pre deceased son. Deborah and Daniel McHenry, Jennifer and Larry Darsey, Rebecca and Roger Shafer, George Jr. and Sonja Wagner, Amanda and Trevon Zeigler, Christopher (deceased) and Candy Wagner, Andrew and Angie Wagner, and Amy Wagner Brokus. Thelia enjoyed spending time with her 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Paramount Senior Living Center, Hospice of Central PA and Jabi Dukuray, all of whom helped make Thelia’s life so much more comfortable.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15 with family receiving friends from 10-11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, Cashtown, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. followed by interment at Flohr’s Church Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the Cashtown Community Hall following the interment.
