Obituary for Thomas J. Herring
Thomas J. Herring, 54, of Cashtown, PA died Friday morning, April 19, 2019, after an eight year battle with cancer, at Genesis Gettysburg Center.
Born October 25, 1964 in Gettysburg he was the son of Nancy M. (Baltzley) Herring, of Cashtown, PA and the late James F. Herring.
Tom worked for many years as a truck driver for JP Donmoyer Trucking in Ono, PA. His work life also included manufacturing mechanics, welder, forklift driver and school bus driver. In 2012 he became a certified Heavy Equipment Operator after attending the Heavy Equipment Colleges of America, in Dothan, AL. He was a life member of the Cashtown Fire Company.
Tom was an animal lover and owned and fostered many pets during his lifetime. His beloved Chihuahuas, Bee, Teddy, Mexy and Psycho were his constant companions during his long illness.
In addition to his mother, Tom is survived by his two daughters, Alicia Marie Allen, of Gettysburg, PA, Stephanie Ann Shuyler-Herring, of Taneytown, MD, his grandson, Jerome Benjamin, of Orrtanna, PA, his sister, Robin J. Herring, of Chambersburg, PA, and his brother, Anthony J. Herring, of Orrtanna, PA.
Funeral services, being handled by the Monahan Funeral Home will be private, online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
