Obituary for Thomas W. Layman
Thomas W. Layman, of Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, PA, formerly of Cape Coral, FL, died Wednesday. March 1, 2017, at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA.
He was born July 29, 1929, the son of the late Granville M. Layman and Ethel A. Wiles Layman. His wife, Mary Regina Topper Layman predeceased him in 2011.
Tom was a 1947 graduate of the Thurmont High School, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church I Fairfield, PA. He was a farmer in the Thurmont and Oakland, MD areas, as well as Everett, PA, before retiring to Cape Coral, FL.
Tom is survived by his stepchildren, Sharon, Joyce and Dennis, his brothers, Richard H. Layman and Robert M. Layman and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Martha Jane Layman and Ella Jean Layman.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield, PA with Fr. Robert Malagesi celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the interment at the church community room. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to; St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Road, Fairfield, PA 17320, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 2405 Park Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the American Heart Society, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
