Obituary for Vann H. Hinton

Vann H. Hinton, 64, Gettysburg, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at UPMC West Shore Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1959 in Portsmouth, VA the son of Elaine Snyder Hinton of Suffolk, VA and the late Guy Hinton, Sr.. Vann is survived by his wife (of 40 years), Natalie Barlowe Hinton.

Mr. Hinton was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He then graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He spent most of his career in quality assurance with various manufacturing companies.

Vann cherished time with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, birdwatching, and cooking, and loved nothing more than seeing live music with his wife and kids. Vann treasured playing “tugga” in the yard with his dog, Gracie. In his younger years he was a surfing enthusiast on the Outer Banks. His family and friends will miss his sense of humor, his humility, and his quiet presence that brought warmth to every room.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Hinton is survived by his son, Matthew Hinton of Carlisle, PA, his daughter, Carly Hinton of Baltimore, MD, his brother, Guy Hinton, Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C., his sister, Mary Paige Davis of New Kent, VA, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Christ Chapel on the campus of Gettysburg College.
