Obituary for Virginia K. Black
Virginia K. Black, 87, of Cashtown, PA died Friday morning, April 14, 2017 at the Gettysburg Center, Gettysburg, PA.
Born March 30, 1930 in Gettysburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Paul Bowling and Hazel Harman. She was the wife of the late Clayton A. Black who died in 1990.
Mrs. Black worked at the Gettysburg Silk Mill until she became a full time homemaker. She loved working in her garden and growing her plants, as well as reading, books, and watching TV. She enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren and listening to music.
Virginia is survived by her five children, Barbara Cullison, of Cashtown, PA, Kathryn Robinson and her husband John, of Biglerville, PA, Mary Kuhn and her husband Larry, of Biglerville, PA, Rosalie Obenstine, of Phoenix, AZ, Rick Black and his wife Ann, of Orrtanna, PA, seven grandchildren, Victoria Cullison and her husband John, of Cashtown, PA, Samantha Black, of Orrtanna, PA, Brandon Black and his wife Katherine, of Orrtanna, PA, Sherry Obenstine, of Phoenix, AZ, Kenny Baker and his wife Lisa, of Tampa, FL, John Robinson and his wife Missy, of Port Orange, FL, Rickie Robinson, of Gardners, PA, five great grandchildren, Ari Ann, Elijah, Ayden- Jayden, Theron and Aubriella, and one sister, Shirley Plank, of Gettysburg, PA. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Gulden, Dorothy Beer, Beryle Keefer, and one brother, William Bowling.
A most heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at Genesis Gettysburg Center. The words thank you do not even come close to tell you all the appreciation we have for you and for all the wonderful care you provided to our mother/grandmother during her time there. We will never forget all the special and wonderful times that we were able to spend with her and it is because of you all that those times are now memories that will last forever. You will all, always have a special place in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg with Pastor Ron Parr officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
