Obituary for Virginia K. Lohuis
Virginia K. Lohuis, 91, of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at SpiriTrust in Gettysburg.
She was born in Gettysburg on December 5, 1926, to the late Joseph D. and Ruth (Weygandt) Kendlehart.
She was a 1944 graduate of Gettysburg High School. In 1947 she married Roland Jay Lohuis and relocated to Wisconsin where their children were born. After her husband’s death in 1961, Virginia and her children returned to Gettysburg to be near her family. She was an active lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Gettysburg. She retired from the Gettysburg School District in 1988 after 22 years of service.
Virginia is survived by sons David, of Centreville, VA, James (Geraldine) of Gettysburg, a daughter Jennifer (Anthony) Mickelson of Gettysburg, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by brothers, James Kendlehart and John Kendlehart.
A Memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 East High Street, Gettysburg on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Hebrling officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Private interment will be in the Gettysburg National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 East High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or a favorite charity.
