Obituary for Walter J. Stone
Walter J. Stone, age 71 of Fairfield, PA passed away at the York Hospital on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 after a long illness.
Born November 18, 1946 in Frederick, Maryland, Walter was long time resident of Catonsville, Maryland. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
Walter had been employed by the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Maryland for 40 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed living on his farm in Fairfield, putting his mechanical skills to work fixing his equipment, working on cars, woodworking, and target practice with his infamous green bullets. Walter looked forward to attending local auctions in search of a good buy and socializing with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene A. (Bache) Stone, two daughters; Mary Beth Stone of Fairfield and Michelle Van Newkirk and husband Bruce Allen Van Newkirk, Jr. of Glenwood, MD, a son, Mark Stone and wife Carolyn of Catonsville, MD and four grandchildren; Gregory & Meghan Van Newkirk and Jaxson & Molly Stone.
Funeral Services will be private. The family suggests memorials to the Adams County Special Olympics, P. O. Box 3188, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
