Obituary for Wilda M. Betts
Wilda M. Betts, 91, Littlestown, PA died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at her home.
She was born February 3, 1926 in Johnstown, PA the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Martha Cameron Sanders. Wilda’s husband John C. Betts, Jr. died in 2006.
Mrs. Betts was a member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a 1944 graduate of Johnstown High School and received her nursing degree from Conemaugh Valley Hospital. Wilda began her nursing career at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, PA and following a move to Florida she was employed at Lehigh Acres General Hospital and finally by Knight-Ferry Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, FL. Wilda was an avid reader and was always involved with numerous church activities.
Mrs. Betts is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Betts of Littlestown, PA, a son, John David Betts and his wife Alexandra of Charlotte, NC, two grandchildren; Robert Betts and his wife Alyssen, Alejandra Thompson, four great grandchildren; Makenzie Betts, Tyler Thompson, Shane Thompson, Ashton Thompson, and a brother, Thomas P. Sanders and his wife Fran of Columbus, GA. She was predeceased by a sister, Wanda Jane Callan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. David Wright and Rev. Lou Nyiri officiating. Interment will be private in Florida. There will be a viewing at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, 208 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
