Obituary for William A. Montgomery
William A. Montgomery, 94, York Springs, PA died Friday, December 14, 2018 at Gettysburg Center.
He was born January 20, 1924 in Dothan, AL the son of the late Asa and Elizabeth Simmons Montgomery. His wife, Mildred Watkins Montgomery died in 2013.
Bill retired from the US Marine Corps after 30 years of service. He is a member of the Lions of Judah Chapter of Christian Motorcycle Association. He was a former member of the York Springs Lions Club.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Lee Sanderson and her husband Stephen of York Springs, PA, two grandsons; Joshua Sanderson and his wife Jill of Apex, NC, Travis Sanderson and his wife Beckie of Thomasville, PA, two great grandchildren, Kergan Sanderson and Quinn Sanderson, and a brother, Jim Montgomery and his wife Dorothee of Hickory, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Lewis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with his nephew Rev. John Alford officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
