Obituary for William C. "Bill" Schultz
William C. “Bill” Schultz, 93 of Gettysburg died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Bill was born in Fairfield, PA on August 23, 1923, son of the late Dorsey J. & Emma (Singley) Schultz. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel V. (Slonaker) Schultz who died June 23, 2005. Bill was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, Adams County Fish & Game Association, Fairfield AmVets and the Biglerville American Legion Post #262. Bill owned and operated a chicken farm in Fairfield, PA for many years and later was a manager for the Mandata Poultry Co. for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and his garden. Bill believed in community service and was a volunteer for the Gettysburg Soup Kitchen, St. James Lutheran Church Youth Breakfast and cooked for the Adams County Fish and Game.
He is survived by his three daughters; Virginia L. Reed of Gettysburg, Jacqueline K. Dukes of iglerville, PA and Ann M. Ketterman and her husband Guy of Gettysburg, three granddaughters; Jenna Craigie and her husband Daric, Erin and Elise Ketterman and a great granddaughter, Kensington Craigie. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Andrew Geib, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday.
