Obituary for William David Overholtzer
William David Overholtzer, 69, of Fairfield, PA joined the Lord on Wednesday evening, November 29, 2017.
Born April 17, 1948 in Emmitsburg, MD he was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Corrine (Kelly) Overholtzer, Jr. He was the husband of Cynde (Spenla) Overholtzer to whom he was married to for 43 years.
Bill was an active member at Wesley Chapel UMC in Fountaindale, attending many administration board meetings, teaching Sunday school, served as the “Rabbi” in many Vacation Bible Schools, helped with youth activities, served as church treasurer, and kids of all ages enjoyed his weekly youth messages. He also served as little league coach, soccer league coach, was a Boy Scout leader, and was involved with many business associations. Bill loved his photography; taking photos of families, weddings and his most popular subjects: his grandchildren. He wrote poetry, loved his “Facebook Time”, babysitting, wood cutting, mowing his acreage, and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his two daughters, Erin Leigh Rose and her husband Matthew, of Fairfield, PA, Kelly Colleen Overholtzer, of Fairfield, PA, three grandchildren, Hailey Mays, Zachary Rose, Olivia Rose, his mother-in-law Joyce Spenla, as well as many other family members and friends that loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 4, 2017 at Wesley Chapel UMC, 654 Old Waynesboro Rd., Fairfield, PA with Rev. Joshua Wargo officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM Monday afternoon until the time of the services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Wesley Chapel or a charity of your choice.
