
Obituary for William Franklin Coleman
William Franklin Coleman, 92, Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, PA died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at his home.
He was born August 5, 1926 in Cumberland, MD the son of the late Melvin W. and Helen Reushel Coleman. Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janet Marie Arendt Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a Charter Member and Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church in Gettysburg, PA. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He was employed as a Welder and then Supervisor at BMY in York, PA for 29 years. He was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion and the Gideon’s.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Coleman is survived by son, Phillip F. Coleman and his wife Jill of Biglerville, PA, a daughter, Marbeth Coleman Begg and her husband Sean of Hinesville, GA, three grandchildren, Leslie Coleman, Samantha Walker and her finance, Andy Stadler, James Coleman and his wife Karla, three great grandchildren, Gabriel Walker, Gabriel Stadler and Brynn Stadler, two brothers; Richard Coleman of Fayetteville, PA, John M. Coleman of Gettysburg, PA and a sister, Norma Hess of Gettysburg, PA. He was predeceased by a brother, George Coleman and a sister Betty Kriel.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Carl Harris officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville, PA. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church, 1015 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
