Obituary for William G. Sentz
William G. Sentz, 94, Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at SpiriTrust in Gettysburg.

He was born April 5, 1923 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late William G. and Emma Study Sentz. Bill’s wife of 67 years, Margaret Felix Sentz died in 2007.

Bill was a lifelong member of Mt. Joy Lutheran Church. During World War II, Bill was a member of the Maryland Minutemen in Baltimore Harbor and was a supervisor in the Baltimore Ship Yard building Liberty Ships for the war effort. Following the war he returned to the area and became a mechanic at Glenn L. Bream Oldsmobile and Cadillac, he later moved to Warren Chevrolet which became Tate Chevrolet. Bill then started his own used car sales and service company on the Fairfield Road, William “Bill” Sentz Used Cars. Following his retirement he worked part-time for the Ford Garage in Gettysburg. Mr. Sentz was a life member and oldest member of the Barlow Fire company. Bill was a former member and Past President of the Gettysburg Optimist Club and a former member of the Gettysburg Elks Club, a life member of the North American Hunting Club, and a member of both the Adams County Fish and Game Association and the Littlestown Fish and Game Association. Bill was a former member and Past Vice-Chair of the Adams County Democratic Committee.

Mr. Sentz is survived by three children; Donna Bixler and her husband Barry of Gettysburg, PA, Billie Ann Crum and her husband Wayne of Bendersville, PA, Matthew Sentz and his wife Tracy of Gettysburg, PA, five grandchildren; Carrie E. Bixler, Daryl G. Crum, Wendy A. Schachle, Abby Z. Sentz, Zachary W. Sentz, eight great grandchildren; Hope Bixler, Cory Bixler, Kayla Bixler, William Bixler, Kelsey Crum, Kalani Crum, Cody Schachle, Jordyn Schachle, two brothers; Harold Richard Sentz of New Oxford, PA, Robert Sentz of Littlestown, PA, two sisters; Janet Parrish of Taneytown, MD and Nadine Combs of Batten, NC. He was predeceased by two brothers; Ralph Sentz and David Sentz.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Mt. Joy Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Peter Naschke officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, October 2, 2017 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to SpiriTrust Hospice, 260 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or Barlow Fire Company, 2005 Taneytown Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
