Obituary for William H. Jones, Sr.
William H. Jones, Sr., 70, Gettysburg, PA died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1946 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late David A. and Elsie N. Thomas Jones. William’s wife, Cindy Rae Brown Jones died in March 2000.
Bill was a member of St. Paul A.M.E Zion Church where he served as a Trustee. He was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill was employed at Schindler Elevator and Escalator in Gettysburg for 36 years. He enjoyed music, singing, model trains and electronics.
Bill is survived by his two sons; William H. Jones, Jr. and his wife Michele of Biglerville, PA, Brian J. Jones of Arlington, VA, a sister, Jean Odem of Gettysburg, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers; David Jones, James Jones and a sister, Elizabeth Ann “Jones” Lipscomb.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, PA at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
