Obituary for William M. Bowling, Sr.
William M. Bowling, Sr., 79, 590 Blacksmith Shop Road, Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at SpiriTrust in Gettysburg, PA.
He was born January 24, 1937 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Paul and Hazel Shultz Harmon Bowling. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, E. Myrtle Andrew Bowling.
Mr. Bowling was a member of the Cashtown United Church of Christ. For many years Bill was a machine operator at Sealed Air Corporation in Hanover, PA. Bill was a Cumberland Township Supervisor for 20 years. He also farmed part-time for most of his life. He was a former member of the Gettysburg Fire Company.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five children; William M. Bowling, Jr. and his wife Penny of Gardners, PA, Kathy J. Scott of Waynesboro, PA, Jeffrey A. Bowling and his wife Tina of Cashtown, PA, Brenda K. Bowling of Gettysburg, PA, Craig Bowling of Gettysburg, PA, eight grandchildren, two sisters; Shirley Plank of Bonneauville, PA and Virginia Black of Orrtanna, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters; Mary Gulden, Dorothy Bere, Byrle Keefer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg at10:30 AM with Rev. James M. Russell officiating. Interment will be in Bender’s Church Cemetery, Biglerville, PA. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Friday, June 3rd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Gettysburg Fire Company, 35 North Stratton Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
