Obituary for Robert Ray Wilkinson
Robert Ray Wilkinson, 67, of Gettysburg entered into God’s eternal care suddenly on Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Barbara Y. (Alwine) Wilkinson for 36 years and father of Abby M. Wilkinson of Gettysburg.
Born January 1, 1949 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Dale and Mary (Washinger) Wilkinson and step son of the late Ruby (Barbour) Tate Wilkinson.
Bob graduated from Biglerville High School in 1966. He received an associate’s degree from Thompson Business Institute in York. He attended Moody
Bible Institute in Chicago.
Most of his jobs were in accounting at the Gettysburg Agway, Food Service East in Hanover, Adams County Interfaith Housing Authority, and the Gettysburg Times. He was treasurer and custodian at Gettysburg Baptist Church. Prior to his death he was part time custodian at First Baptist Church in Gettysburg.
Bob was previously a member of Hanover First Church of God and Gettysburg Baptist Church. Presently he attended Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, traveling, helping with AWANA, playing cards, board games, and yard games, and watching football and baseball. Due to his love of baseball Bob served as the Commissioner of the Adams County Church Softball League.
Bob is also survived by his brother, Donald E. Wilkinson (wife Cathy) of East
Berlin, sister, Diane L. Kehr (husband Clyde) of Dover, brother-in-law, Gregory Alwine (wife Susan) of Glenville, step siblings, Leonard (Pam) Tate of Gardners, Donna Rae (Donald) Wolf of Carlisle , Carol Ayers of Gardners, and Kathy (Kevin) Starner of Gettysburg.
A Memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Baptist Church, 1096 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, with Pastor Steven Baker officiating. Burial will be private at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 Am until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Adams County, P.O. Box 94, Biglerville, PA 17307 or Tender Care Pregnancy Center, 1844 York Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
