Obituary for Barbara Joan Bouis
Barbara Joan Bouis of Fairfield, PA entered the gates of heaven peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Gettysburg Hospital.
Born on April 25, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Capt. James Norris Wood and Kathleen Brooks Wood. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Stanley Malcom Bouis who died December 21, 2009.
Barbara worked most of her pre-retirement life as a real estate secretary. Her passions in life were sewing, crocheting, babies, owls, dogs, humming birds and making other people happy. She was well known for making blankets and sweaters for every expectant mother she knew. Barbara was a women of deep faith in God and all he created. She appreciated the beauty of nature and would frequently thank God aloud for each beautiful day and all his creatures. She enjoyed attending church services at Tom’s Creek Methodist Church. Most of all she loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved to tell people about them and share their pictures. Her beautiful smile and caring nature will continue in our hearts forever.
Barbara is survived by a son, Timothy Bouis and his fiancé, Sharon Birdsall of Taneytown, MD and a daughter, Deborah Bouis Ellsworth and her husband, Scott Ellsworth of Fairfield, PA and seven grandchildren: Cassidey Bouis of Pikesville, MD, Zachary and Ethan Bouis of Taneytown, MD and Jeffrey, Jack, Tyler and Tiffany Ellsworth of Fairfield.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 East Main St. Fairfield, PA with Pastor Heath Wilson, officiating. A Viewing will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be private. The family suggests memorials to the Children’s Miracle Network or your local animal shelter.
