She was born August 8, 1925 in Gettysburg, PA the daughter of the late Jesse and Grace March Scott. Martha’s husband Orville Black died in 1998.
Mrs. Black was a member and attended Gettysburg Foursquare Church for over 70 years and for a time was a Sunday School Teacher. Martha was employed at Bloser Baby Shoe Company for 38 years and before that at Keystone Garment Sewing Factory. She enjoyed outdoor activities including concerts, reading and spending time in her garden. Mrs. Black was a former member of the Gettysburg Region – Antique Automobile Club of America.
Martha is survived by a son, Gerald Black of Gettysburg, PA and a sister, Dorothy Rice of Gettysburg, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers; Paul Scott, Charles Scott, Richard Scott and Daniel Scott.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Christ Chapel Foursquare Church, 225 New Chester Road, Gettysburg, PA, with Rev. Lloyd Fuss officiating. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Tuesday, September 6th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Building Fund at Gettysburg Foursquare Church, 330 West Middle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
