
Obituary for Stella Marie Knox
Stella Marie Knox, 79, of Grapeview, WA formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday afternoon, November 1, 2017 at the Harrison Medical Center, Bremerton, WA.
Stella was feisty but had a big heart. She had lots of friends in Gettysburg, PA where she spent most of her life until going to Washington to be with her son and making even more friends. You could always find her reading novels by Danielle Steel or James Patterson. She enjoyed crocheting, word search and being with her family and friends. Her absence will definitely be noticed.
Born July 18, 1938 in Mercersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Corrina (Cantner) Welsh. She was preceded in death by her second husband Roy E. Hardman who died in 1988, as well as her third husband, James A. Knox, who died in 1997.
Stella worked at several places throughout Adams County, including Prosperity Cleaners in Gettysburg, South Mountain Restoration Center, Green Acres Nursing Home, and Shepherd’s Choice Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Gettysburg Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four step-children, Kenny Thompson of Gettysburg, PA, Linda Hardman, Victor Hardman both of Los Angeles, CA and Sabrina Figueroa of Orlando, FL, seven grandchildren, William Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Heidi Orozco, Tommy Villa, Mary Farfan, Albert Echeverria and Denise Hardman, her sister, Judy Zeis, her brother, Samuel Welsh, Jr. and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Stella was preceded in death by her beloved son, William Thompson, III, two sisters, Bea Cunningham, Phyllis Dewalt, two brothers, Harold Welsh and Melvin Welsh and step- daughter Cheryl McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
