Obituary for George R. Weigle, Jr.
George R. Weigle, Jr., 75, of Biglerville, PA died Sunday morning, November 19, 2017 at his home.
Born February 17, 1942 in Latimore, PA, he was the son of the late George and Kathryn (Wagner) Weigle, Sr. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Laughlin) Weigle, of Biglerville to whom he was married to for 52 years.
Mr. Weigle was a member of Mummert’s Meeting House, East Berlin where he served as a deacon for over 40 years. He worked as a truck driver for Musselman, Inc., initially, then was employed by A.B.F. Freight retiring from there in 2004. George enjoyed gardening, hunting, and playing softball, but especially loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren in particular.
In addition to his wife George is survived by his four children, Sonya Stahl (Brad), of Chambersburg, PA, Deanne Gearhart (Rick), of Waynesboro, PA, Neil Weigle (Katie), of Monrovia, MD, Darvin Weigle (Kathy), of Biglerville, PA, eight grandchildren, Eric Stahl, Evan Stahl (Emilee), Kelsey Elbel (Marcus), Nakita Gearhart, Keri Gearhart, Eli Weigle, Kierney Weigle, Brett Baumgardner (Alexa), four great grandchildren, five sisters, Faye Weigle, Mary Mansberger, Janet Noreen, Linda Richwine, Donna Weigle, and one foster brother, Wilbur Slothour.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Mummert’s Meeting House, Mummerts Church Rd., East Berlin, PA with Brother Paul Schildt and Brother Allen Nell officiating. Burial will be in the Mummerts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday evening, November 24, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA, as well as from 1:00 PM until the time of the service, Saturday afternoon at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
