Obituary for Mary K. Bauer
Mary K. Bauer, 59, died peacefully Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family in Fairfield PA.
She was born April 15, 1959 in Wakefield, MA the daughter of the late Francis “Frank” and Ruth Eason Mangan. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Thomas M. Bauer, six children; Mother Therese of Merciful Love OCD, Elizabeth Muenzberg and her beloved Abram, Catherine Bauer, Michael Bauer and his wife, Mara, Mary Rose Bauer, Kiara Bauer, and four grandchildren; Emma, Selah, Benedict, Brigid, and her brothers and sisters; Linda, Kenneth, Judith, Patricia, Virginia, twin brother, Michael, and Laura.
Mary was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on Cape Cod, MA and graduated from Wakefield High School before attending Merrimack College in Lowell, MA. For 5 years, she was a counselor and art teacher at St. Ann’s Home in Methuen, MA. She devotedly raised her family on Cape Cod from 1985 until 2010, where she dedicated herself in the service of the Catholic Church, community, and loved ones as a mother, homemaker, professional designer, artist, musician and counselor.
She then moved to Elysburg, and then Fairfield as caretaker and major collaborator in the foundation of the Carmelite Monasteries of Carmel of JMJ, where her daughter has been subprioress. Mary was also a longtime devotee and Organizer for Our Lady of the Roses Shrine and St Michael’s World Apostolate in Bayside, NY where she distinguished herself with her deep faith, talented work and wise counsel. She will be sorely missed.
The viewing will be at the Carmel of JMJ, 325 Water Street, Fairfield, PA on November 9th from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at the caretaker’s home, followed by prayers of the Carmelite Rite at 7:00pm in the chapel, which will be open until midnight. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10th at 10:00am in the Carmelite chapel with Bishop William J. Waltersheid. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
