Obituary for George J. Krakosky
George J. Krakosky, 99, of Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019 at the Hanover Hospital.
Born October 29, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Nanitchka) Krakosky. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Quinn) Krakosky who died June 27, 2010.
Mr. Krakosky was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, where he was a proud survivor of the D Day Battle, as well as the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for a number of years at Sears & Roebuck as a service technician. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, K of C, and the Moose Lodge.
George is survived by his three daughters, Georgia Stine and her husband Jesse, of Hanover, PA, Rose Helen Krakosky, of White Oak, MD, Ruth Koenig and her fiancée Robert Haines, of Gettysburg, PA, five grandchildren, Roy Monitor, Guy Monitor, Matthew Koenig, Jacob Koenig, Mari Koenig, and seven great grandchildren, Roy Monitor, Jr., Krystin Monitor, Ian Monitor, Devlin Monitor, Natalie Monitor, Jade Koenig, and Anson Koenig. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Krakosky, and his two sisters, Pauline Ritchie and Florence Gill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St., Gettysburg, PA with Fr. Daniel Mitzel Celebrant. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Online condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
