Obituary for Harold D. Green
Harold D. Green, 87, Marsh Creek Road, Gettysburg, PA died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the York Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1931 in Freedom Township, Adams County, PA the son of the late Fred W. and Viola (Kennell) Green. Harold’s first wife, Caroline (Sentz) Green died in 1980, his second wife, Ellen (Fiscle) Green died in 2010.
Harold was a self-employed logger and saw mill operator at Green’s Saw Mill, a family business started in 1949 by his father. He worked there for 70 years up until last Friday. He was a member of the Greenmount Fire Company. He was also a part time scrapper. Harold also enjoyed occasional trips to Alaska for gold prospecting.
Mr. Green is survived by three sons; Sam Green and his wife Sandi of Gettysburg, PA, Tom Green and his wife Bernetta of Gettysburg, PA, Todd Green and his wife Bonnie of Gettysburg, PA, two step-daughters; Michelle Barnes of Great Falls, MT, Sandy Butala of Gettysburg, PA, five grandchildren; Lori Green, Chad Green, Kyle Green and his wife Linda, Erin Green, Lisa Green and her husband Dustin, four step-grandchildren; Melody Fastner and her husband Erick, Seth Barnes and his wife Danielle, Sierra Elldrey and her husband Colten, Alim Ahmed, five great grandchildren; Abby Senft, Connor Green, Laine Green, Sidney Green, Evan Green, three step-great grandchildren; Coty Smith, Colton Smith, Becka Smith; a brother, James Green and his wife Mary of Gettysburg, PA, a sister, Ginny Crouse and her husband Tim of Gettysburg, PA, and a sister-in-law Jane Green of Gettysburg, PA. He was predeceased by a brother Robert F. Green and a sister Thelma Baxter, and her husband Gene Baxter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Monahan Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and Monday, April 1, 2019 from 10:30 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Greenmount Fire Company, 3095 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or a favorite charity.
