
Obituary for Virginia I. Plank
Virginia I. Plank, 96 of Orrtanna, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at her home.
Born in Gettysburg, PA on February 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James & Margaret (Sites) White. Mrs. Plank was predeceased by her husband of fifty three years, Richard F. Plank, who died in 2004.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in McKnightstown, PA. Mrs. Plank was very active member of the Cashtown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and had received the Mary Biesecker Award for the many years of service. She had been employed by the former C. H. Musselman Co. in Biglerville, PA for 33 years and later worked for Bream’s Orchard’s Packing House in Cashtown for a number of years.
Mrs. Plank is survived by her three children: Linda P. McDannell and husband Daniel, Stephen R. Plank and wife Susan and John A. Plank and wife Necia all of Orrtanna, PA, 6 grandchildren: Jared Plank, April Stitt, Kirk McDannell, Taylor Plank and husband Luke, Bryan Boyd and wife Danika and Brandi Lee Hershey and husband Eddie, 5 great grandchildren; Caleb Stitt, Landon Huff, Gavin Boyd, Miyah Boyd and Annabelle Hershey, her sister, Jean Herring of Cashtown and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Plank was predeceased by nine siblings; George White, Robert White, W. Ross White, Jo Hare, Ruth Deckert, Margaurite Funt, Frances Kuykendall, Mary Davis and Pearl Singley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with her Pastor, Rev. Rodger Snyder, officiating. Interment will follow the services in the McKnightstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 6 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
