Obituary for Tony A. Townsend
Tony A. Townsend, 59, of Harrisburg, PA, died Friday evening, May 17, 2019 at his home.
Born August 1, 1959 in Gettysburg, PA he was the son of Maxine Townsend, of Gettysburg, PA and the late Ronald Leonard. He was the husband of Liz J. (Woodall) Townsend, of Harrisburg to whom he was married to for 25 years.
Tony was Senior Pastor at Faith Community Church, York, PA. He Received Doctorate in Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian University and earned his Master of Management & Leadership from Liberty University and graduate of Shippensburg University. Tony also worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for 17 years. He was an ordained Minister of the Faith Ministries Alliance under the leadership of Dr. Bill Winston. Graduate of Light of Glory School of Ministry, Graduate of Rhema Correspondence Bible School. Tony served on Calvary Victory Bible College Advisory Board, was a member of the Significant Church Network, Leader of Men’s Ministry, Taught Adult Bible Classes, received Arms Around Communities Cornelius Award, and served as Treasure for Harvest of Blessing, Inc, Tony loved teaching the Word of God and training others to be disciples. His Greatest gift and Passion was ‘Giving’ and helping others.
In addition to his wife and mother, Tony is survived by his two children, Anthony Townsend and Tia Townsend, both of Harrisburg, and 11 siblings, Alfredo Townsend, of Gettysburg, Tanya McKenrick, Fayetteville, PA Stacey Thompson, Quinn Townsend, Free Townsend, Deneen Townsend, all of Gettysburg, Rhonda Green, Annapolis, MD, Chuck Drummond, Melissa Drummond, and Carol Markle, Nassir Bryant all of York.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Shiloh Church of God In Christ, 5950 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA with Bishop Guy Glimp officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Harrisburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of the services Saturday at the church.
